Age related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) is the frequent cause of irreversible loss of central vision of patient over age 50. The condition is usually bilateral, although both eyes may not be affected equally. The extract causes of ARMD are still unknown.
In the early stages of ARMD, patient may note slight distortion or blurring of their visions, good quality daily life usually maintained. In the late stage of ARMD, patient may experience moderate to severe visual loss. Daily life style may change to suit the eye conditions.
Currently, there are no proven therapies to restore patient’s vision. However some strategies can be done to slower the progresion of ARMD. Annual eye check up with proper advice and treatment is recommended for all ARMD patient.
